Marijuana and the Current State of the Union: Let’s Get in the Weeds

This training will examine current trends and issues with marijuana in the state of Pennsylvania and across the country. Areas to be discussed include THC's impact on mental health issues in both children and adults, challenging arguments for medical usage, impact on impaired driving, economic implications, and treatment considerations. The training will be both didactic and interactive to encourage participant engagement.

 

Objectives

  • Provide up-to-date information on the current impact of marijuana on society.
  • Examine current impact of marijuana on mental health and physical health issues.
  • Challenge arguments for the “safety” and “efficacy” of medical marijuana.
  • Discuss definitions of impairment due to marijuana and impact on driver safety.
  • Examine and discuss marijuana impact on various demographic groups (e.g. adolescents, adults, older adults).

Eric J. Webber, MA, CADC, CCS, CSAT, CCPG

Eric Webber is the Director of the Legal Professionals Program and Senior Clinician for Specialty Services at Caron Treatment Center.  He provides direct care through specialty lectures and counseling sessions focused on relapse, Addiction Interaction Disorders, work/professional related issues, and other targeted needs. He conducts the Legal Professionals group, as well as a general Executive/Professional group.  Mr. Webber is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Clinical Supervisor, and holds a Certificate of Competency in Problem Gambling, all through the Pennsylvania Certification Board; he is also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals. He holds a Master’s Degree from Alvernia University.

Eric Rodriguez, LSW, CAADC

Eric Rodriguez currently serves as the Education Resource Director for Caron’s Education Alliance Department.  Mr. Rodriguez oversees education, training, development, and learning initiatives, with a focus on corporate and organizational education. Prior to accepting the education role in 2021, Mr. Rodriguez worked as a behavioral health therapist for the Caron’s Executive Program, providing individual and family therapy to patients and their families, facilitating groups, offering educational lectures, and helping to set up aftercare plans. He has advanced education in co-occurring disorders, specifically related to anxiety, and is trained in cognitive processing therapy for trauma.  Mr. Rodriguez is a licensed social worker in the state of Pennsylvania and has a certification in advanced addiction and drug counseling. He has a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology and a master’s degree in clinical social work from Millersville University
