New Roots Inc. is hiring Certified Recovery Specialists (CRS) to provide services at New Roots Recovery Support Centers in Hazleton, Tamaqua, and Wilkes-Barre. Additionally, New Roots is hiring for community-based CRS positions for Carbon and Schuylkill counties.

Full-time and part-time positions are available.

Responsibilities

Under supervision, the Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) provides peer support services, serves as an advocate, and provides information to participants. The CRS performs a wide range of tasks to assist individuals in regaining control over their lives and recovery process. The CRS will model competence in recovery and coping.

Following New Roots guidelines, the CRS will interact safely and effectively with peers to:

* Assist peers in articulating personal goals for recovery and provide linkage to community-based resources
* Assist peers in determining reasonable and holistic steps moving toward recovery
* Assist peers in identifying barriers to recovery goals
* Assist peers in identifying personal strengths in daily living and recovery skills
* Observe and reinforce positive progress that peers make toward recovery goals
* Teach problem-solving skills, including identifying and combating negative self-talk
* Support vocational choices peers make and assist them in overcoming job-related barriers
* Assist peers in building social skills by demonstrating and reinforcing proper conduct and respectful interaction
* Utilize his/her unique recovery experience to teach and role model the value of every individual’s recovery experience

The CRS will also:
* Maintain confidentiality of peer information
* Maintain effective coping and self-help techniques
* Continue to develop professional skills by maintaining certification
* Attend approved and relevant seminars/staff in-service training
* Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with peers and avoid dual relationships within the community
* Fulfill documentation requirements of New Roots accurately and on time
* Use inclusive, culturally appropriate language and attitudes during all interactions

Qualifications

Must have valid Certified Recovery Specialist certification through the state of Pennsylvania.
Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
Self-identify as an individual in recovery.
Must be maintaining healthy recovery from substance abuse.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to meet written communication requirements are mandatory.
