Our story
Originally founded by two emergency room psychiatrists, Dr. Chris Carson and Dr. Robert Williamson, Connections Health Solutions brings 30 years of experience serving individuals in crisis and operates two of the nation’s largest and most studied crisis response centers and is currently expanding to more states. Since opening our doors, we have provided care and treatment for hundreds of thousands of individuals in crisis.
What You'll Do:
The Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) provides vital peer support to individuals navigating their recovery journey, demonstrating through personal experience that recovery is both desirable and achievable. This role collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to address the unique treatment and recovery needs of each individual, fostering an environment of empowerment and hope.
- Peer Support and Advocacy:
- Actively facilitate or co-facilitate group and individual recovery sessions, offering guidance and encouragement throughout the treatment process.
- Serve as an advocate for individuals, helping them navigate the challenges of recovery with the support of crisis management plans.
- Therapeutic Alliance and Crisis Intervention:
- Work to minimize the use of seclusion and restraint by building strong, trust-based therapeutic relationships and practicing trauma-informed care.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage potential conflicts and communicate effectively during crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved.
- Resource Coordination:
- Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and assist individuals in accessing services that meet their specific recovery needs.
- Implement an understanding of multiple recovery paths, promoting each as a viable option based on the individual’s circumstances.
- Substance Use and Addiction Knowledge:
- Identify signs and symptoms of substance use, intoxication, tolerance, withdrawal, and overdose, using this knowledge to provide informed support.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of addiction models and the impact of substance use on the brain, incorporating this knowledge into recovery strategies.
- Collaborative Care and Documentation:
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring a cohesive approach to treatment and recovery.
- Accurately document all encounters with individuals in the electronic health record, maintaining a clear and compliant record of services provided.
- Personal Experience and Support:
- Encourage and support individuals by sharing personal recovery experiences, using appropriate self-disclosure to build trust and inspire hope.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success of the recovery program.
What You'll Bring:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified as a Certified Recovery Specialist with Pennsylvania Certification Board and maintains registration throughout employment
- Must be able to perform Safe Clinch restraint techniques
- Must be able to pass the following background checks
- Child Abuse Clearance
- FBI Criminal Background Check
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
- Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
It would be great if you had:
- Additional certification as a Certified Peer Specialist with the Pennsylvania Certification Board
- Completion of specialized peer certifications (WHAM, ASIST, etc.)
- Knowledge of evidence-based/person-centered skillsets, such as Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Verbal De-escalation, and Person-centered language

The standard hiring range for this position in Harrisburg, PA is $19.25 to $22.00 per hour. The exact compensation will be based on factors such as years of experience, competency, and skill level.
